With the new addition of the Newport Harbor
Nautical Museum (NHNM) to the area, Newport Landing and NHNM have joined
efforts and created a new educational experience involving whales and
marine mammals. The new facility gives us the opportunity to expand our
education programming. In conjunction with an on the water experience
of whale watching we now offer a pre or post trip extended hands on learning
experience through the NHNM. |

| Your day will include a whale watch field trip with Newport Landing on the open ocean. This enables students to encounter migrating Pacific gray whales, sea lions and several species of dolphin. Your day will also include an innovative classroom-based extension of this experience. This portion of the day invites students to develop exhibits and serve as gallery interpreters. Students will develop and present exhibits in four galleries: | |

| The tour takes between fourty five minutes to an hour. Your tour guide will take you through each of the four educational stations. They will also be available for questions during each segment. The tour includes underwater footage of whales in their habitat, whale bones, and fossils. On your tour you will also get a chance to handle several marine animals in the touch tank. This hands on experience teamed with an on the water viewing of the California Gray Whale make for a memorable educational experience. To add this tour onto your whale watching trip would be an additional $5.00 per student. | ![]() |

for Grades 4 - 12. We do have a seperate program including educational
