Newport Landing's Catalina Island Whale
& Dolphin cruise offers a day full of ocean adventures. Departing at 9am
from Newport Beach, the cruise immediately begins with excellent viewing
opportunities of whales and dolphins just outside Newport Harbor. For
the next 2 ½ hours, viewing opportunities continue as our cruise crosses
the Catalina Channel. During this time opportunities to view blue whales, grey whales, humpback whales, fin back whales, and many more whale species are possible. Several types of dolphin and many other unique marine creatures are also viewed while traveling the Catalina Channel. |

The open ocean offers unique opportunities to view
marine creatures that are not typically viewed on our standard whale watching
excursion. Upon reaching Catalina Island, the cruise stops at Avalon for a 2 hour drop off. During the 2 hours you can get a bite to eat or explore Avalon. The Captain will provide you with the pickup time from Avalon prior to arriving at the dock at Avalon, Catalina Island. Please remember to allow a little bit of extra time when planning your Avalon shore activities to ensure you make it back in time for the pick up. |

Once the stop off in Avalon has concluded the cruise
continues along the coast of Catalina Island. The waters just off Catalina
Island can be some of the most productive for spotting grey whales during
their migration. With numerous sightings very possible Catalina Island
is a whale watching hot spot. While viewing the beautiful coastline of
Catalina you may spot a bald eagle snatching a fish from the ocean's surface.
Harbor seals are also found at play in the protected waters and expansive
kelp forests that line the Catalina coast. |

Soon it is time to head back across the
Catalina Channel to the Southern California mainland. You will dock back
in Newport Harbor around 5:30 pm. A day on the ocean and touring Catalina
is a wonderful way to experience the great diversity of the marine life
that inhabits these unique areas. View coastal, open ocean, and island
environments all on one fun filled trip. Take part in experiencing a side
of Southern California that many never get to enjoy. |
